To make comparisons of equality using verbs we use the formula:

verb + tanto como

Expressions with verbs show no agreement.

Remember tan is used before adjectives and adverbs.

Examples:
Juan trabaja tanto como yo.
Juan Works as much as I do.

Mi hermanita nada tanto como un pez.
My little sister swims as much as a fish.

Ya no juego tanto como antes.
I no longer play as much as I used to.

Cuando yo era joven nadaba tanto como un pez.
When I was young I used to swim as much as a fish.

Gramática
Cuanto . . . . . (tanto)
followed by any comparatives, translate to English as:

'the more . . . . . the less'
'the more . . . . . the more'
'the less . . . . . the less' etc.

Examples:
Cuanto más gana, (tanto) más gasta.
The more he earns, the more he spends.

Cuanto más le pidan, (tanto) más les dará.
The more you ask of him, the more he will give you.

than is ordinarily expressed by que.

Tengo más dinero que usted.
I have more money than you.

Él anda más aprisa que ella.
He walks faster than she.

Before numerals or numerical expressions, than is expressed
by 'más de'
NB:"No más de..." shouldn't be confused with "no...más que..."
meaning 'only,' "Juan no compró más que veinte libros."-'Juan bought only
twenty books.'

Me dieron más de veinte pesos.
They gave me more than twenty dollars.

No tenía más de dos libros.
He didn't have more than two books.

Gramática
When each member of the comparison has a different verb,
or the second member of the comparison repeats the verb
of the first, de is generally used for than
in preference to que. Furthermore, if an adjective is the
point of comparison, de is followed by the relative
lo que (that which), and if a noun is the point of
comparison, by the relatives el que, la que,
los que, los que (the one which, those which).

Es más bueno de lo que pensaban.
He is better than (that which) they thought.

Trajo menos de lo que prometió.
He brought less than he promised.

Tengo más dinero del que te presté.
I have more money than (that which) I loaned you.

Me compró menos libros de los que creí que me compraría.
He bought me less books than (those which) I thought he would buy me.

María habla tanto como su madre. - Mary talks as much as her mother.
Pedro gana tanto como Susana. - Pedro makes as much money as Susana.
Yo corrí tan rápido como tú. - I ran as fast as you did.
Tú comiste tanto como Rosa. - You ate as much as Rosa.
Nosotros trabajamos tanto como ellos. - We work as much as they did.
Ellos bailaron tanto como ustedes. - They danced as much as you all did.
Ustedes caminaban tanto como ella. - You used to walk as much as she.
Yo llego tan temprano como el maestro. - I arrive as early as the teacher.
Tú tocas la guitarra tan mal como yo. - You play the guitar as badly as I do.
Nosotros corrimos tan despacio como el otro equipo. - We ran as slowly as the other team.

Sentences
Susana gana más que su esposo. - Susana makes more money than her husband.
Tú comes más que yo. - You eat more than I do.
Yo corro más rápido que Pedro. - I run faster than Pedro.
Nosotros llegamos más temprano que ustedes. - We arrived earlier than you all did.
Ustedes hablaron más que ellas. - You all talk more than they did.
Ellos dan más que Juan. - They give more than Juan.

Sentences
Susana ganó menos que su esposo. - Susana made less money than her husband.
Yo trabajé menos que tú. - I worked less than you did.
Tú corres menos que Pablo. - You run less than Pablo.
Nosotros trabajamos menos que ellos. - We worked less than they did.
Ustedes dieron menos que Pedro. - You all gave less than Pedro.
Ellas hablaron menos que tú y María. - They talked less than you and Maria.

Cuanto más pensaba más me enojé.- The more I thought, the angrier I became.
Cuanto más pizzas, mejor.-The more pizzas the better.
Cuanto menos trabajan menos ganan.-The less they work the less they earn.
Cuanto menos lees menos aprendes.-The less you read the less you learn.
Cuanto más hacemos ejercicios más peso bajamos.-The more we exercise the more weight we lose.
