Gramática
Comparatives are the comparison of one person or thing
to another. There are three types of comparatives:
superiority, inferiority and equality.

Superiority - más... (que) - more... than or ____er than
Inferiority - menos... (que) - less/fewer... than

We will study equality in the next section.

interesante - interesting
más interesante - more interesting
menos interesante - less interesting

bonita - pretty
más bonita - more pretty
menos bonita - less pretty

Examples:
Esta película es más interesante que la otra.
This movie is more interesting than the other one.

Esta motocicleta es más bonita que la roja.
This motorcycle is prettier than the red one.

Guatemala es menos caro que Costa Rica.
Guatemala is less expensive than Costa Rica.

Gramática
Bueno and malo have irregular forms for the comparative.

bueno - good
mejor - better

malo - bad
peor - worse

Examples:
Este libro es bueno.
This book is good.

Este libro es mejor que el otro.
This book is better than the other one.

Esta motocicleta es buena.
This motorcycle is good.

Esta motocicleta es mejor que la roja.
This motorcycle is better than the red one.

Este auto es malo.
This car is bad.

Este auto es peor que el otro
This car is worse than the other one.

Este auto es peor que el suyo.
This car is worse than yours(formal).

Note!
Más is not used with mejor and peor.

Sentences using más

Tú eres más interesante que ellos.
You are more interesting than they.

Ana es más grande que Lucas.
Ana is taller than Lucas.

Esta película es más interesante que la otra.
This movie is more interesting than the other one.

Esta película es más interesante que la que vimos anoche.
This movie is more interesting than the one we saw last night.

Juan ha leído más libros que María.
John has read more books than Mary.

Juan ha leído más de veinte libros este año.
John has read more than twenty books this year.

Sentences using menos
Rosa es menos alta que María.
Rosa is shorter than Maria.

Juan lee menos libros que Pedro.
Juan reads fewer books than Pedro.

Tú comes menos que Juan.
You eat less than Juan.

Yo bebo menos agua que Rosa.
I drink less water than Rosa.

Nosotros corremos menos que ustedes
We run less than you all.

Ustedes caminan menos que nosotros
You eat less than we.

Ellos trabajan menos que Pedro.
They work less than Pedro.

Ellas estudian menos que tú.
They study less than you.
