Introduction to Pronouns

Spanish subject pronouns are used in a similar way as in English.

The pronoun se is used for: simple reflexive, dative of interest, reciprocal reflexive, much, much more.

A possessive adjective accompanies a noun. A possessive pronoun replaces a noun. Example:
Su compañia es más importante que la mía. - His firm is more important than mine.

A demonstrative pronoun replaces a noun completely. Example:
Mi carro es mejor que aquél. - My car is better than that one.

The two most common relative pronouns are: que (who, which, that) and quien (who).

Spanish indefinite pronouns are unspecific and are used in place of nouns.

Follow the links on the right for more information on each type of pronoun.
