The verb dar (to give) is irregular in the preterite tense.The base is simply d and the endings are the same as VER in the preterite.

yo di (I gave) nosotros dimos (we gave)
tú diste (you gave) vosotros disteis (you guys gave)
Ud./él/ella dio (you gave, he/she gave) Uds./ellos/ ellas dieron (you all/they gave)

Sentences with dar
Yo le di las cosas que él necesitaba. - I gave him the things that he needed.
Yo se lo di. - I gave it to her.
Yo les di el dinero ayer. - I gave them the money yesterday.
Yo le di el dinero a Juan ayer. - I gave the money to John yesterday.
Yo te dije que yo se lo di ayer. - I told you that I gave it to him yesterday.

¿Le diste el dinero para comprar los boletos? - Did you give him the money to buy the tickets?
¿Le diste a tu madre la libreta y todos los lápices? - Did you give your mom the notebook and all the pencils?
¿Le diste a Juan las cosas que él necesitaba? - Did you give John the things that he needed?
¿Se las diste? - Did you give them to him?
¿Le diste el dinero a Juan? - Did you give the money to John?

Juan se lo dio. - John gave it to her.
Yo creo que Juan le dio el dinero a María. - I think that John gave the money to Mary.
Juan me dio el dinero. - John gave me the money.
Ella me dio el dinero. - She gave me the money.
La perra de mi vecino dio luz a unos cachorros. - My neighbor's dog gave birth to some puppies.

Sí, nosotros se lo dimos esta mañana. - Yes, we gave it to her this morning.
Nosotros se los dimos. - We gave it to them.
Se lo dimos ayer. - We gave it to them yesterday.
Les dimos el dinero ayer. - We gave the money to them yesterday.
Por la tarde dimos un paseo. - In the afternoon we took a walk.

Yo creo que ellos se lo dieron. - I believe that they gave it to her.
Muchachos, ¿Le dieron el dinero? - Boys, did you give her the money?
¿Se lo dieron? - Did you give it to her?
Yo no sé si ellos se lo dieron. - I don't know if they gave it to her.
Ellos nos lo dieron. - They gave it to us.
