Overview

The verbs querer (to want), perder (to lose) and mentir (to lie) are irregular in the present tense. When conjugated, (e) changes to (ie) (with the exception of nosotros and vosotros).

The conjugations of the verbs are shown in the tables below.

querer (conjugation)

yo quiero (I want)
quieres (you want)
Ud/él/ella quiere (you/he/she wants)
nosotros (as) queremos (we want)
vosotros (as) queréis (you guys want)
Uds/ellos/ellas quieren (you all/they want)

perder (full conjugation)

yo pierdo (I lose)
pierdes (you lose)
Ud/él/ella pierde (you/he/she loses)
nosotros (as) perdemos (we lose)
vosotros (as) perdéis (you guys lose)
Uds/ellos/ellas pierden (you all/they lose)

Let's look at some example sentences:

Quiero comer.
I want to eat.

Él quiere dormir.
He wants to sleep.

Yo no pierdo mi dinero.
I don't lose my money.

No pierdes nada con preguntar.
You lose nothing by asking.
