Spanish verbs are often followed by a preposition.
The verbs below require a when followed by an object
(noun or pronoun).

asistir a - to attend
responder a - to respond
llegar a - to arrive at

Examples:
Juan no asistió a la reunión.
Juan did not attend the meeting.

Luis respondió a todas las preguntas.
Luis responded to all the questions.

(noun or pronoun).

quedarse con - to keep
soñar con - to dream of
contar con - to count on, to rely on

Examples:
Ella sueña con su novio.
She dreams about her boyfriend.

cambiar por - to exchange for
luchar por - to fight for
viajar por - to travel by

Examples:
Yo lucho por tu amor.

Examples:

Yo respondí a mi madre. - I responded to my mother.
Tú llegaste a mi casa. - You arrived at my house.
Ella asistió al doctor. - She aided the doctor.
Nosotros respondemos al llamado. - We respond to the calling.
Ustedes llegan a la oficina. - You all arrive at the office.
Ellos responden al anuncio clasificado. - They respond to the classified ad.
