Possessive Pronouns

No pude acostarme a las nueve porque tenía muchas tareas que hacer.
I couldn't go to bed at nine o'clock because I had a lot of homework to do.
Me acosté a las once.
I went to bed at eleven o'clock.
Quería acostarme más temprano pero no pude.
I wanted to go to bed earlier but I couldn't.
No hice las tareas por la tarde.
I didn't do the homework in the afternoon.
Si hubiera hecho las tareas por la tarde habría podido acostarme más temprano.
If I had done the homework in the afternoon I would have been able to go to bed earlier.
Mamá me dijo que hiciera las tareas cuando llegué a casa a las tres.
Mom told me to do the homework when I got home at three o'clock.
Mamá dice que debo hacer las tareas tan pronto como llegue a casa.
Mom says that I should do the homework as soon as I arrive home.
Mamá dice que quería que yo hiciera las tareas tan pronto como llegara a casa.
Mom said that she wanted me to do the homework as soon as I arrived home.
Juan se acostó a las once.
John went to bed at eleven o'clock.
El quería acostarse a las nueve pero no pudo porque no había hecho sus tareas.
He wanted to go to bed at nine o'clock but he couldn't because he hadn't done his homework.
Creía que él haría sus tareas por la tarde.
I thought that he would do his homework in the afternoon.
Me dijo que iba a hacer sus tareas por la tarde.
He told me that he was going to do his homework in the afternoon.
¿ Pudiste hacer tus tareas esta tarde?
Were you able to do your homework this afternoon?
¿ A qué hora te vas a acostar?/¿ A qué hora vas a acostarte?
What time are you going to go to bed?
Notice that with a verb phrase ending in an infinitive, we have two choice for the placement of the pronoun ("te").
¿ A qué hora terminaste tus tareas?
What time did you finish your homework?.
¿ Hiciste tus tareas esta tarde?
Did you do your homework this afternoon?
¿ Has hecho tus tareas?
Have you done your homework?
¿ Has podido hacer tus tareas?
Have you been able to do your homework?
Anoche yo quería acostarme temprano pero no pude porque tuve que hacer mis tareas.
Last night I wanted to go to bed early but I couldn't because I had to do my homework.
Yo creía que Juan podría acostarse temprano, pero no pudo porque tuvo que hacer sus tareas.
I thought that John would be able to go to bed early, but he couldn't because he had to do his homework.
Si él hubiera hecho sus tareas esta tarde habría podido acostarse ahora.
If he had done the homework this afternoon he would be able to go to bed now.
María dice que no puede acostarse ahora porque tiene que hacer sus tareas.
Mary says that she can't go to bed now because she has to do her homework.
María, ¿ hiciste tus tareas?
Mary, did you do the homework?
María, ¿ Has hecho tus tareas?
Mary, have you done the homework?
Espero que María haya hecho sus tareas.
I hope that Mary has done the homework.
Espero que María se haya acostado.
I hope that Mary has gone to bed.
Espero que María se haya podido acostar./Espero que María haya podido acostarse.
I hope that Mary has been able to go to bed.
Again, with an infinitive verb phrase, we have two choices for the placement of the pronoun.
Yo esperaba que María se pudiera acostar temprano./Yo esperaba que María pudiera acostarse temprano.
I was hoping that Mary would be able to go to bed early.
Creía que María haría las tareas esta tarde.
I thought that Mary would do the homework this afternoon.
No sé si María hizo las tareas esta tarde.
I don't know if Mary did the homework this afternoon.
¿ Sabes si María pudo hacer las tareas esta tarde?
Do you know if Mary was able to do the homework this afternoon?
María podrá acostarse tan pronto como ella haga las tareas.
Mary will be able to go to bed as soon as she does the homework.
María podrá acostarse temprano, con tal que haga sus tareas.
Mary will be able to go to bed early, provided that she does her homework.
Podrás ver la película con tal que te acuestes después.
You can see the movie provided that you go to bed afterward.
Yo habría podido ver la película si hubiera hecho mis tareas esta tarde.
I would have been able to see the movie if I had done my homework this afternoon.
No vi la película porque no había terminado mis tareas.
I didn't see the movie because I hadn't finished my homework.
¿ Viste la película? ¿ Te gustó?
Did you see the movie? Did you like it?.
No pude ver la película porque tuve que acostarme temprano.
I wasn't able to see the movie because I had to go to bed early.
Voy al cine esta noche a menos que haya muchas tareas.
I'm going to go to the movies tonight unless there is a lot of homework.
¿ Por qué te acostaste tan tarde?
Why did you go to bed so late?
No me pude acostar más temprano porque tuve que hacer muchas tareas./No pude acostarme más temprano porque tuve que hacer muchas tareas.
I couldn't go to bed earlier because I had to do a lot of homework.
No sé a qué hora me podré acostar esta noche./No sé a qué hora podré acostarme esta noche.
I don't know what time I will be able to go to bed tonight.
Tengo sueño porque me acosté muy tarde anoche.
I'm sleepy because I went to bed very late last night.
No tendrías sueño si te hubieras acostado temprano.
You wouldn't be sleepy if you had gone to bed early.
Te habrías podido acostar a las diez si hubieras hecho las tareas por la tarde./Habrías podido acostarte a las diez si hubieras hecho las tareas por la tarde.
You would have been able to go to bed at ten o'clock if you had done the homework in the afternoon.
Mamá dijo que quería que hicieras las tareas por la tarde, antes de cenar.
Mom said that she wanted you to do the homework in the afternoon, before eating supper.
Terminé mis tareas y después me acosté.
I finished my homework and then I went to bed.
María terminó sus tareas y después se acostó.
Mary finished her homework and then she went to bed.
Creía que ella iba a poder acostarse más temprano.
I thought that she was going to go to bed earlier.
