My Spanish improved tremendously in five weeks here. The staff are knowledgeable in grammar, patient with all students, friendly outside of the classroom and never intimidating. School is clean and comfortable, in a nice neighborhood and convenient to bus, mall and several restaurants. Staff is helpful with travel arrangements throughout Costa Rica. Accomodations are adequate and safe. Student age range seems to be teen to 70+. I attended CRLA last winter ("summer" in CR) and am returning again this winter for a longer stay. An excellent choice for a Spanish language school.

Overall my experience here was GREAT! I had small classes with cool people from all over the world. I stayed for 2 1/2 months, traveled on the weekends, learned to dance a little at the school, learned a little at the cooking classes. I recommend the school. A+

Staff is very helpful and Costa Rican people are very nice. I was surprised that all instruction is done in Spanish. But this is probably the norm.

I am in the beginning class. I think beginners really need to be up out of their seats, interacting, role playing, using pictures etc. but we are really just reviewing the information from a well made book. My husband is in a higher class and he is enjoying it and his teacher’s methodology more. I think it really depends on the teacher you get. But, even after day 1, both our Spanish has improved. Extras - This is where the school really shines. They have so much to offer. Cooking classes, dancing classes, conversation hour, soccer, etc. Amenities – Going to this school is saving us a ton of money on our excursions. They have a full time travel helper on staff. The prices there are about 30% less than the prices at the hostel for excursions and they have discounts for activities etc. and you get a student card that you can use to get discounts at the museums etc. They also have about 20 computers with free internet, wireless internet, and a little cafe that sells really cheap lunch. They are a couple blocks away from a nice mall where you can go watch a movie or get something to eat after school. Oh, and they will even buy your bus tickets for you! Recommended? – Most definitely, they take good care of their students.

I have the best experience in Costa Rica. The professors were excellent and very educated. I loved how cooking classes and salsa classes were included in the program. It was nice to have a cafeteria area where you could order food for lunch...another added bonus to this school. My family was wonderful! They treated me like their own child. They made my experience very special.

Excellent classes at least at the advanced level. Good service including with tours. Free coffee and good cheap lunches. Computers could use help - bring your own and use their Wi-Fi. This is a good school if you have maxed out of the levels at others.

Normalmente, no escribo en estos foros pero antes de salir tenía mucho miedo de ir a un programa que solamente encontré por internet! Por todos de ustedes como yo – tranquilo, este escuela realmente existe!!! Quería decirles a ustedes que mi nivel en español ha mejorado tanto que yo siento que yo debería escribir una revista. Estudié con CRLA por 3 meses, y en este tiempo vi muchos estudiantes vienen y salen. Le recomiendo quedarse por tanto tiempo como posible! Tuve 5 diferentes profesores y 2 diferentes instructores de baile. No debería decir nombres específicos en el foro pero me gustaría decir que aprendí montones y ahora puedo escribir y hablar a la medida de esta revista. También puedo bailar merengue y salsa!!! Cuando llegué a la escuela solo podía hablar y escribir en la nivel intermedio 1 y no pude bailar nada. Ahora yo puedo comunicarme en español! Estaba impresionado con el plan de estudios, la estructura de enseñanza de los profesores, y la organización de la escuela. Me hice amigos con algunos de mis profesores también, y todavía estoy en contacto con algunos de mis profesores. En todo, yo puedo recomendar CRLA sin reservación. Si no han aprendido español, aquí está una traducción en inglés. Normally, I don´t write in these fórums but I was a little nervous to go to a school that I only discovered via the internet. So…don´t worry, the school really exists!!! My level in Spanish has improved so much that I feel compelled to write a review. I studied at CRLA for 3 months, and saw a lot of students come and go....so I recommend that you stay as long as you can! I had five different Spanish teachers and two different dance teachers. I shouldn´t say specific names here but I want to tell you that I learned so much that I could write this whole thing in Spanish and then translate it to English! And I can now dance meringue and salsa! When I got to the school I could only speak at a very beginner intermediate level, and I couldn´t dance. Now I can communicate in Spanish! I was impressed with the school´s curriculum, the style of teaching of the teachers, and organization of the school. I became friends some of my teachers and I am still in contact with some of them. All in all, I can recommend CRLA without reservation. You are very lucky to have the opportunity to go to CRLA! I want to go back! I heart CRLA.

Un colegio muy bien, con profesores amables, inspirados y muy competentes. En mi clase había tres estudiantes, lo qué me gustaba mucho. Así, la profesora podía prestar atención a cada uno. This Was great and so is the city location and staff is professional. This was on a par with the Spanish school in Panama City; "Spanish Panama"
