Ser is also used to describe people.

In relation to physical appearance, adjective endings change when you are discussing masculine vs feminine.

Mi hermano es alto.
     My brother is tall.
La niña es alta.
     The girl is tall.
Él es muy guapo.
     He is very handsome.
Ella es guapa.
     She is pretty.
Ella es carismatica.
     She is charismatic.
Ella es esbelta.
     She is slender.
Ella es linda.
     She is pretty.
Ella es timida.
     She is timid.

Él es bajito.
     He is short.
Mi mamá no es bajita.
     My mom is not short.
Él es delgado.
     He is skinny.
La maestra es delgada.
     The teacher is skinny.
Él es carismatico.
     He is charismatic.
Él es timido.
     He is timid.
