The verb dar means to give.
It is irregular in the preterite.

yo di I gave
diste you gave
Ud./él/ella dio you/he/she gave
nosotros/as dimos we gave
vosotros/as disteis you all gave
Uds./ellos/ellas dieron you all/they gave

Yo le di el dinero a Juan ayer.
     I gave Juan the money yesterday.

¿A quién diste el dinero?
     To whom did you give the money?

Ella me dio el dinero.
     She gave me the money.

Usted le dio el clave.
     You gave him the key. (formal)

Les dimos el dinero ayer.
     We gave the money to them yesterday.

Vosotros les disteis las gracias.
     You guys gave them thanks.

Sí, me dieron muchos.
     Yes, they gave me a lot.
