This is by far one of the best teachers I have had. She is always prepared and she knows her subject!

My experience was excellent. I greatly appreciate the knowledge I was able to gain in a very short period of time.
Evaluation from awjackson:
The school was much more than I had hoped for. No matter how hard I worked I got so much more in return.
Evaluation from ymiller:
The program is excellent. There's no substitute for being immersed in a culture.
Evaluation from jspittard:
The professionalism of the teachers & staff, the student community, the diversity and quality of activities, the superb teaching, and the value for the money were all remarkable. Will return, and would recommend to anyone.
Evaluation from wander25:
Very good staff and friendly learning environment. I came in knowing almost nothing and learned much in just 2 weeks. A minor complaint is that both my teachers had somewhat limited English knowledge which slowed down learning for a beginner such as myself but I still accomplished much.
Evaluation from dnordin:
This is a great school that offers tons of extracurricular activities that are almost all free. The teachers are well-trained and usually professional (I had one rough day when I decided to switch schools). The reason I had to switch is that the school was not prepared to offer a medical spanish program as they advertised. The teachers have no training in medical vocabulary and there is only 1 not very helpful book available. Also, the clinic here is only one doctor who never saw more than a handful of patients a day. I would recommend this school to anyone who wanted conversational spanish, but not for medical spanish. For a medical spanish program you really need to look for a school that is affiliated with a non-Guatemalan medical school.

Me encanta ICA! I spent two weeks in Xela during a month-long trip to Guatemala, alone, with virtually no Spanish experience. Yes, Xela is kind of ugly and absolutely frigid at times, but what you lose in aesthetics you gain in the bustling nature of the working city, warmth of the people, and the high quality of this school. The organization of the afternoon activities was impressive-- always something to do from after the morning class ends until dinner time! What impressed me most was just how incredible the individual teachers are. At the school I attended afterwards (in San Pedro) it was very obvious that the teaching English is just a paid job. At ICA, every one of the teachers came with a story-- from an unmarried young woman finishing her thesis to a pastor with spiked hair who works with poor youth, each of them have passions within the city. Granted I am a young female, so this may be a biased opinion, but a good few of the teachers loved getting to know the students, joking around with them during breaks, and breaking them out of their shell over a cerveza or two. Futbol games were great fun, and there were plenty of opportunities to practice your Spanish. Food is delicious, my host families were very accomodating. As a vegetarian who was really worried about getting by-- don't you worry! Lots of fresh veggies, and man do these ladies know how to cook!
