Student ratings for Querétaro Language School
Evaluation from kgreenway:
I studied at QLS for 2 weeks, and the classes and staff were fantastic. The school has a great location, but when I was there the school building was was still being setup, so the facilities could have been nicer. But they were working on it so once they are done it should be great.
Evaluation from margaretpeterson:
The Spanish classes at QLS are great, and I really like the extra curricular activities, especially the cooking class and salsa classes!!

Evaluation from smokey:
I attended QLS for about 1 month and not only refreshed a lot of old college lessons; I also advanced my understanding of Spanish. I even started to get a good grasp on the subjunctive. I am 57 and this was my first time studying abroad at a language school. I regret the time was short and went by so quickly. I am looking forward to returning for a longer stay and will also visit their San Cristobal location. The immersion experience is perfect for learning the language and the culture. I felt very safe in this city and there is plenty to do for all sorts of tastes and interests. I did a great deal of exploring Centro Historico on foot. Everything you need is in walking distance. I felt fortunate to get there in time for the bicentennial celebration but there are always events in the various beautiful plazas. The price is about right and one can get by on a tight budget if you do not go crazy on souvenirs like I did. This is not a gringo enclave even though I met a few estadounidenses. This is the place to go to be compelled to learn Spanish to get along in the activities of daily life. Ray, Laura, and the entire staff are very helpful and extremely friendly. They pay close attention to every detail a student needs. They will give you the best information on events or advice ranging from local sights to restaurants. The instructors are first rate and compare to ones I have known at university levels. In fact being native speakers, they were better than university level. I wish I had them available here in the U.S. I plan on taking advantage of the Skype lessons until I can return. Every instructor was very patient. They had to be to teach me Spanish. Before I knew it I realized they were giving the class entirely in Spanish. Being an older guy, I initially had my doubts about the family stay accommodations. I did not know what to expect. I was quickly convinced I made a very good decision. The family stay was perfect and very comfortable. I slept better there than I do at home. I had everything I needed and made some great friends. They were the nicest people and enjoyed helping me with my Spanish. I am glad I selected this school after a lot of research. I recommend this school for any level of student with a serious interest to learn Spanish and Mexican culture.
Evaluation from wolffamily:
My family studied at the qls this summer of 2011 for our 3 month sabatical and it was a wonderful experience. From our Homestay to the staff at the school it felt like we were with family and did not want to leave. Our Spanish improved a lot! Even our 8 year old who did not initially want to go to Mexico did not want to leave. We definately recommend both qls and queretaro to anybody looking to have a great experience!
Evaluation from Ge0ffrey:
My second visit in two years. I returned because I liked it so much. I took five hours of private lessons per day at about $14/hour with well-pepared teachers who coordinated my lesson plans to push me to use the subjunctive. Everyone punctual, profesional and friendly. Living situation ideal -- a self contained unit in a flowery courtyard. Took breakfast and dinner upstairs with a great family. Queretaro is historic, not over-run by gringos, not kitchy touristy. The people are very polite albeit reserved. And, if you are a Catholic Mass-goer -- whether morning, afternoon or evening -- Queretaro is heaven on earth. You will be astonished at how many people attend daily Mass.
Evaluation from lawyerMan:
To everybody considering this school, ignore the reviews above. They may have been true before, but in the last few months the school has changed owners and the new owner is rude and is more concerned about money than the students or the staff. Take my advice and go somewhere else.
Evaluation from spanishlanglvr:
Don't know what's up with the last review, but I just got back from QLS, and this school is one of the best I've ever attended, and I've been to quite a few of them around Mexico. These teachers are professional and caring, the office staff is great and the owner took care of every little detail for me, which is important for me since I'm a woman traveling alone. Will definitely recommend this school to others serious about learning and also want to have a good time. Mariachis on break were cool!
Evaluation from griffin:
I thought the teachers at this school were wonderful. I also liked that I had several different teachers teaching coordinated classes with a different emphasis. My only concern is that the school was sold about two years ago, while I was attending, and it's possible that it has changed since then. Besides the school, Queretaro is a wonderful place to study. It's touristy for Mexicans, but not foreignors, so English is not common and you'll need to practice your Spanish.
Evaluation from SabrinaCallaghan:
I really enjoyed my month at QLS. The staff were very friendly and once when I wasn't enjoying the style of my class, I told the staff and they ensured that my following classes suited my personal learning preferences- they were very flexible to my personal needs, even when taking group classes.
Evaluation from Chickadee:
What the heck? This school shut down years ago. Why is it still listed here?
