Negation

To make a Spanish statement or question negative, place "no" in front of the verb.

    Sound No quiero hacerlo. - I don't want to do it.
    Sound No tengo un lápiz. - I don't have a pencil.
    Sound Elena no está aquí - Elena is not here.
    Sound ¿No tienes hambre? - Aren't you hungry?

Spanish also has many other negative words that are used along with "no" or without it. A list of negative words is provided in the table below.

    Soundnada - nothing
    Soundnadie - nobody, no one
    Soundninguno - none, no one
    Soundnunca - never
    Soundjamás - never
    Soundtampoco - neither, not either
