Regular Verbs

The imperfect is the easiest, most regular tense in Spanish. Since the first and third person singular forms are identical, you must make certain the context makes the subject clear.

To conjugate a regular verb in the imperfect tense, replace the infinitive ending with the correct ending for each pronoun. Follow the links on the right for an explanation of how to conjugate each of the verb types.

Some example sentences using the imperfect are shown below:

Mi carro no tenía radio.
My car didn't used to have a radio.

Hace años no existía el carro ni la computadora.
Years ago the car and the computer didn't used to exist.

Yo siempre andaba en bicicleta cuando era joven.
I always used to ride bike when I was young.
