The verb escribir (to write)
is regular in the preterite tense.
The preterite tense endings are:
í, iste, ió, imos, isteis, ieron

The nosotros form is the same in
the present and preterite tenses.

Preterite tense forms of escribir (to write)

yo escribí (I wrote) nosotros escribimos (we wrote)
escribiste (you wrote) vosotros escribisteis (you guys wrote)
Ud./él/ella escribió (you wrote, he/she wrote) Uds./ellos/ ellas escribieron (you all/they wrote)

Other regular -ir verbs
Many other -ir verbs follow the same pattern.
Some common -ir verbs are listed below:

vivir - to live
recibir - to receive
descubrir - to discover

Sentences with escribir

María escribió la carta. - Mary wrote the letter.
Yo le escribí una carta al abogado. - I wrote a letter to the lawyer.
¿Le escribiste una carta al abogado? - Did you write a letter to the lawyer?
El señor García le escribió una carta al abogado. - Mr. García wrote a letter to the lawyer.
Nosotros le escribimos una carta a la abuela. - We wrote a letter to grandmother.
Los señores le escribieron una carta al doctor. - The gentleman wrote a letter to the doctor.
Ella escribió texto en este campo. - She wrote text in this field.
Usted escribió un informe cada mes. - You wrote a report every month.
¿Le escribió una advertencia? - Did you write him a warning?
Yo escribí un libro. - I wrote a book.
Escribiste cada detalle. You wrote every detail.
Los estudiantes escribieron dos páginas sobre sus familias. - The students wrote two pages about their families.
Juan, escribió la respuesta en la pizarra. - Juan wrote the answer on the blackboard.
Escribisteis los números con este pedazo de tiza. - You all(fam.) wrote the numbers with the piece of chalk.

Sentences

Viviste en Ecuador por tanto tiempo.-You lived in Ecuador for a long time.
Vivisteis con os padre el año pasado.-You all(fam.) lived with your father last year.
¿Ustedes vivieron por cuántos meses en EEUU?-How many months did you all(form) live in the US?
Recibiste la carta de tu abuela. -You received the letter from your grandmother.
Recibimos la encomienda de nuestro tío en Rusia.-We received the package from our uncle in Russia.
Gloria recibió la carta de admisión de la universidad.-Gloria received the acceptance letter from the university.
Mi bebe descubrió su mano ayer.-My baby discovered his hand yesterday.
Descubrimos otro camino a nuestra casa.-We discovered another route to our house.
Los chicos descubrieron que se pueden callar.-The boys discovered that they can be quiet.
