Spanish Present Subjunctive

To form the present subjunctive you simply take the first person indicative form of the verb and, with -ar verbs, change the -o ending to -e.

Example: the first person indicative form of the verb hablar (to speak) is hablo. The table below shows the conjugation of hablar in the present subjunctive:

Sound hablar (example sentences) (full conjugation)

yo Soundhable (I speak)
Soundhables (you speak)
Ud./él/ella Soundhable (you/he/she speaks)
nosotros (as) Soundhablemos (we speak)
vosotros (as) Soundhabléis (you guys speak)
Uds./ellos/ ellas Soundhablen (you all/they speak)

For -er and -ir verbs, change the -o to -a.

Example: the first person indicative form of the verb comer (to eat) is como. The table below shows the conjugation of comer in the present subjunctive:

Soundcomas (you eat)
Ud./él/ella Soundcoma (you/he/she eats)

Example: the first person indicative form of the verb vivir (to live) is vivo. The table below shows the conjugation of vivir in the present subjunctive:

Soundvivas (you live)
Ud./él/ella Soundviva (you/he/she lives)
nosotros (as) Soundvivamos (we live)
vosotros (as) Soundviváis (you guys live)
Uds./ellos/ ellas Soundvivan (you all/they live)

Note:
m = male f = female mix = mixed group
yo = I, tú = you (informal)
usted (Ud.) = you (formal)
él = he, ella = she
nosotros = we (m/mix), nosotras = we (f)
vosotros = you guys (informal, m/mix)
vosotras = you guys (informal, f)
ellos = they (m/mix), ellas = they (f)
ustedes (Uds.) = you all (formal)
