Abstract and Concrete Nouns
According to what they refer to, nouns can also be: abstract and concrete.
Abstract nouns refer to qualities and ideas that only exist in our imagination:
Concrete nouns refer to beings or real things that can be seen or touched.
[Footnote: There is another type of noun called Collective noun which denotes several beings or things of the same kind, but is expressed in a singular form. For example: tropa -troop (group of soldiers), rebaño -flock (group of sheep), hormiguero -ant´s nest, etc.]
