Intermediate 1 - Irregular verbs - an introduction

In Spanish, regular verbs follow the same rules of conjugation in all the Spanish verb tenses. An irregular verb is one which does not follow standard rules of conjugation in the different verb tenses. There are about twenty irregular Spanish verbs. In Spanish as in English some of the most important and most frequently used verbs are irregular. Hence it is necessary to learn how they are conjugated. Now we will look at one of the most useful Spanish verbs - the Spanish verb “ir,” which means “to go.” This verb is an irregular verb because the present tense conjugations do not follow the norm which you previously learned. The table below shows how to conjugate Ir in the present tense:
