Informal tú commands  



Gramática - Repaso
Informal commands are used with friends and family.
Direct affirmative tú commands are formed dropping
the –s from the tú form in the present tense.

Examples

hablar (to speak) - habla - speak!
comer (to eat) - come - eat!
vivir (to live) - vive - live!
pensar (to think) - piensa - think!
volver (to return) - vuelve - come back!
dormir (to sleep) - duerme - sleep!

Gramática
Direct negative tú commands are formed by changing
the -as ending of the tú form in the present tense
to -es and the -es ending of the tú form to -as.

Examples

fumar -> fumas - ¡No fumes! - Don't smoke!
correr -> corres - ¡No corras! - Don't run!

Sentences
¡Vuelve a mí! - Come back to me!
¡Come ensaladas! - Eat salads!
¡Come rápido! - Eat quickly!
¡Come despacio! - Eat slowly!
¡Piensa en tu madre! - Think about your mom!
¡Vuelve pronto! - Come back soon!
¡Vive tu vida! - Live your life!
¡Fuma afuera! - Smoke outside!
¡Habla ya! - Speak already!

Sentences
¡No duermas en el sofá! - Don't sleep on the sofa!
¡No comas mucho! - Don't eat too much!
¡No leas en la oscuridad! - Don't read in the darkness!
¡No corras en la casa! - Don't run in the house.
¡No comas comida chatarra! - Don't eat junk food!
¡No vuelvas! - Don't come back!
¡No pienses solo en ti! - Don't think only about yourself!
¡No fumes en la casa! - Don't smoke in the house!
