The Infinitive

A verb is an action word. A verb provides the action to a sentence, either physically - run, walk, hit, blow - or mentally - desire, wish, believe, imagine, hate. The most basic form of a verb is called an infinitive. We categorize Spanish verbs based on the last two letters of their infinitive form.

Sound hablar (to speak) --> hablar --> ar verb

Sound correr (to run) --> correr --> er verb

Sound salir (to depart) --> salir --> ir verb
