Step 1

To make a Spanish statement or question negative, simply place no in front of the verb.
The same rule applies to present, preterite, and imperfect.

Yo no dormía bien.
     I didn't used to sleep well.
no comías ejotes.
     You didn't used to eat green beans.
Carlos no sonreía.
     Carlos didn't used to smile.
No jugábamos béisbol.
     We didn't used to play baseball.
Vosotros no trabajabais.
     You all didn't used to work.
Ustedes no sabían la verdad.
     You all didn't know the truth. (formal)
