Paula: Pues el clima en España, es muy bueno, en verano hace buenísimo todo el tiempo. Y en invierno, hace frío y la temperatura puede bajar incluso por debajo de cero grados y helar.
Well, the weather in Spain is very good, in the summer it is good all the time. And in the winter, it is cold and the temperature can get low even lower then zero degrees and it frosts.
Jaime: ¡Ay menos mal que estamos en verano!
Oh, thank goodness it is summer!
Paula: Y ¿qué época del año te gusta más?
And what season (era) of the year do you like the most?
Jaime: El verano, hace calor y hay mucho sol. No me gusta nada el otoño, hace frío y todo está mojado. ¿Y tu qué prefieres?
Summer, it is hot and there is lots of sun. I do not like the fall (autumn), it is cold and everything is wet. And what do you prefer?
Paula: Bueno, a mí me gusta el invierno: hace frío, nieva, y puedes ir a la montaña o andar y esquiar.
Well, I like the winter: it is cold, it snows, and you can go to the mountain or you can ski.
Jaime: Puf… Con ese tiempo, yo prefiero quedarme en casa calentito y leer un buen libro.
Poof.... With that weather, I prefer to stay in my house warm and read a good book.

The weather may be translated as el clima or el tiempo. There are different ways to discuss the weather, in this dialogue we will review a form of the verb hacer - to make, do
hace calor - it's hot (warm)
hace fresco - it's cool
hace frío - it's cold
hace sol - it's sunny
hace viento - it's windy
Note: The verb "hacer" can be substituted for the verbs "hay" (it's or there is) or "estar" (it is) which are discussed in other dialgoues and lessons.

What kind of weather is in your country?
Sebastian: Es suave, pero no siempre es agradable. En el norte a menudo hace un tiempo frío y en este hace un tiempo ventoso. A menudo llueve en el oeste y a veces hace calor en el sur.
It is mild, but it is not always nice. In the north it often is cold weather and in this part it is windy. Often it rains in the west and it rains and at time is it hot in the south.
Arnulfo: ¿Qué estaciones del año le gustan más?
Which seasons of the year do you like the best?
Sebastian: A mí me gustan la primavera y el verano. Los días son largos y las noches son cortas. El sol sale temprano y se pone tarde. A mí no me gustan el otoño y invierno. Los días son cortos y las noches son largas. El sol sale tarde y se pone temprano, nuestro clima no es muy bueno, pero sin duda es interesante. Es nuestro tema preferido de conversación.
I like the spring and the summer. The days are long and the nights are short. The sun rises early and it sets late. I do not like the fall or winter. The days are short and the nights are long. The sun rises late and it sets early, our weather is not really good, but it is certainly without a doubt is interesting. It is my favorite topic of conversation.

How is the weather (climate) in your country?
Carlos: Es muy agradable

Roberto: ¿Y qué tiempo hace en primavera?
And what kind of weather (climate) is in the spring?
Carlos: Marzo es a menudo ventoso. En abril y mayo siempre hace calor pero a veces llueve.
March is often windy. In April and may it gets hot but at times it rains.
Roberto: ¿Y en verano?
And in the summer?
Carlos: En junio, julio y agosto siempre hace calor. El sol brilla cada día.
In June, July, and August it is always hot. The sun shines every day.
Roberto: ¿Hace frío o calor en otoño?
Does it get cold or is it hot in the fall (autumn)?
Carlos: En septiembre y octubre siempre hace calor, en noviembre a menudo hace fresco y a veces llueve.
In September and October there is always heat, in November it often is fresh and at times it rains.
Roberto: ¿Hace mucho frío en invierno?
Is it cold much in the winter?
Carlos: En diciembre, enero y febrero a menudo hace frío, a veces nieva.
In December, January, and February it often is cold, and at times it snows.
